Turnout for Car Show Festival & Free Vehicle Inspections
|
The Automobile Club of Southern California's 2nd Annual Car Care Fair and Car Show held Oct. 19 drew thousands of spectators to see the 230-vehicle car show. The car festival featured cars and truck models ranging from 1922 to 2002. The event also drew safety-conscious motorists who came out for free vehicle inspections and free child safety seat inspections. |
The community event, sponsored by The Auto Club and Enterprise Car Sales, was held in conjunction with October's National Car Care Month. At the event, the Auto Club, the Automotive Service Councils, and mechanics from participating Approved Auto Repair Shops performed 550 vehicle inspections on spectators' cars and trucks. The inspections focused on proper vehicle maintenance. Mechanics checked function and condition of lights, fluids, belts, hoses and tires of motorists' vehicles. Each motorist got a checklist about their vehicle for their mechanic. |
The community event was intended to help motorists drive safely, and well-running cars save on repairs, gasoline and vehicle emissions, according to Ed Lindsay, event coordinator and Approved Auto Repair's Program Manager. The Auto Club hosted the event at its office at 3333 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa, CA with a live radio remote broadcast by Arrow 93 DJs "Uncle" Joe Benson and Maggie McKay. |
Certified child passenger safety technicians from the California Highway Patrol and other community groups performed approximately 100 free safety seat inspections at the event. The certified inspectors checked to make sure car seats were properly installed in vehicles to provide maximum protection for its passenger. |
Team All Stars, a contemporary car association and representatives from The Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton, which hosts an annual Concourse de Elegance, judged the cars and trucks for trophies. Below is a list of winning car entries: |
